Everyone I know is asleep...
FACT: There's nobody to IM with at 5:00 a.m. I went to bed early, and woke up an hour ago, and I can't get back to sleep. I don't know, though, sometimes my dreams can be just as bad. It's not very restful when I dream I can't sleep or when I wake up in stark terror because I've dreamed that because I didn't reset something or because I pushed some button, the entire world will come to an end. Do our dreams punish us? Is this my unconscious acknowledging some sort of guilt?
So here I am at 5:30 on Tuesday morning, wide awake. I remember sleeping problems with my first pregnancy, but it's more difficult now that there's a 3 1/2 year old needing attention. When it was just me, and I was super tired, I could just nap. Now I've got to find a comfy spot on the couch while the boy's tv show is playing or somehow convince him that he needs a nap, when I'm the one that really needs the nap, and he's happy to sing and dance around the house, put dirt in the coffee grinder or make a huge mess by rearranging the furniture. Where does he get all this energy?
